SkyCaddie SG4 Reviews, Feedback & Overview

Rating:4.5 / 10

Actual Customer Feedback:

“I bought an SG4 because of the SD RAM expansion slot which several ads said promised that this slot allows you to save more courses; UNTRUE, the slot does nothing.”

“Nothing but problems from day one. Everyone at our club who has one has had problems.”
Portion of SkyCaddie SG4 Golf GPS user review on Amazon.com

“Although the unit does a decent job of finding yardage and the other things that one expects from a golf GPS, the cable connection for charging and downloading new courses is the worst engineered that I have ever seen.

“The information provided by the SG4 was great. I stayed out of trouble on several holes because of the “end of fairway” data….The only thing lacking is an entire hole view from the tee box.

Our Research on SkyCaddie SG4 Golf GPS Suggests:

There is no clear consensus for this device based on user reviews. The device seems to work adequately for those that are able to get it setup.

However for a significant percentage there were difficulties or problems with the unit.

Of the 5 user reviews that located, only 1 reviewer gave the SG4 5/5 stars. 1 gave it 4/5 and 3 gave it 1 or 2 out of 5 stars.

Limitations:

  1. Cannot record score. Many golf GPS devices do provide this ability.

Verdict:

The SkyCaddie SG4 Golf GPS seems to be a bit of a gamble. While is small and light with a nice screen, it is not exceptional and people have had issues with installation.

There are only two reason we can see to purchase this unit. One would be if you believe that having the course mapped and the targets identified by a human provides significantly more accuracy than satellite based systems.

And two would be if you believe that the “Programmable memory module to store thousands of targets” works as advertised and is a feature the you would need to use (that you would play more than 10 courses at a time without having to update the course data).
